Encouraging the Village Infrastructure Acceleration, Semen Gresik Builds A River Cliff of IDR175 Million in Pasucen Desa, Rembang
Rembang, October 6, 2022 – Again, PT Semen Gresik (PTSG) allocated cluster infrastructure assistance to Pasucen Village of Rembang Regency amounted to IDR175,000,000 for the construction of a river cliff, which has been carried out since July 2022.
The PTSG's Senior Manager of Communication and CSR Unit, Dharma Sunyata, claimed that the construction aims to revitalize the worn-out river cliff to be brand new and solid. "This construction is expected to withstand the increase in river water discharge during the rainy season and facilitate the water flow for the irrigation needs of the community," said Sunyata in his press release (6/9).
The infrastructure assistance, Sunyata continued, is a labor-intensive activity involving local village workers coordinated by the Pasucen Village Government in collaboration with PTSG through the FMM program. The details of river cliff construction include a road canal of 27 m, a river cliff of 52 m, a fence of 79 m, an embankment of 178 m3, and a culvert of 7.5 m.
Sunyata added that this assistance is one of PTSG's supports provided through the Civil Society Forum (FMM) activities, with a total of IDR1.75 billion distributed to six villages around the company. The assistance belongs to the infrastructure cluster, the participatory-based community empowerment cluster, and the socio-cultural cluster within the FMM program.
"PTSG is present and supports the community through the infrastructure construction, which the community may benefit directly from. Therefore, we can create a healthy social ecosystem, economic improvement, and sovereign village," declared Sunyata.
Sunyata reaffirmed that the allocation of infrastructure assistance is the company's commitment to continue promoting the acceleration of village infrastructure development in compliance with SDG 9, namely 'Building Resilient Infrastructure.'
The Head of Pasucen Village, Salamun, expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the river cliff construction assistance in Pasucen Village. According to him, the construction has contributed a wide range of benefits and positive impacts for the surrounding community.
"Before the construction, floods frequently occurred during the rainy season at the river banks. It was triggered by the overflowing water into the community's houses, silting up, and a large pile of garbage in the river area. Today, after the river cliff construction, dredging, and culvert cleaning, the situation becomes comfortable, clean, and safe for the surrounding community," Salamun concluded (6/10).
